FAQs

At what age should my child should begin orthodontic treatment?
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends that every child gets screened by an orthodontist at 7 years of age. We will only prescribe early treatment in very specific cases, but early screening during childhood can allow us to modify the growth of the facial structures if needed. Our goal is to reduce the complexity and duration of treatment when the adult teeth do come in.

How do you care for your braces and appliances?
Excellent oral hygiene including proper brushing and flossing techniques and routine visits with your orthodontist and dentist. You should also follow the guidelines given to you from your orthodontist regarding foods to avoid eating and care of the appliances.

When you get braces, how often do you have to visit the Orthodontist?
Your orthodontist will outline your visit frequency in your treatment plan, generally, patients should visit every four to eight weeks dependent on the case and appliances.

How long does treatment normally take?
On average treatment will take 18 to 24 months. Your treatment will depend on the severity of your case and appliances.
